The History behind Fujinari Preserve
In 2019, Jefferson Fine Home Builders was introduced to John Fujinari, a nonagenarian who had chosen with his wife, Rose, to make Bainbridge Island their home to raise their family almost fifty years earlier. John was in the process of relocating to his daughter’s home in Kirkland after the passing of Rose. John and Rose acquired a 6.9 acre land parcel rising from Eagle Harbor Drive to a bluff oriented eastward towards the Seattle skyline. In 1973, John designed and built their family home in a contemporary format with Asian influence while leaving about half of the property beyond the home in a forested state. John created three additional home sites on the remaining property which remained undeveloped.
John’s hope was that our company would embrace his vision for the property where homes would sit in harmony with the surrounding natural environment and where less density than allowed would be developed. Quickly after considering his vision, we elected to purchase the entire property, renovate the home, and develop the remaining three homesites consistent with his vision. We embraced this opportunity and in 2021 completed the renovation and sale of the original home and now offer for sale the first of three homes designed by Davis studio + design.
Entering through a forested canopy, these homes sit high on a sunny, level bluff. The community of three new homes were designed in a compatible contemporary style consistent with John’s vision.
